Shelbi Weeks of Cambridge, Iowa, was named a "Distinguished Finalist" from Iowa (note you need to select Iowa in the drop-down menu) in the Prudential Spirit of Community Awards program. She personally made 23 quilts and donated them to the neonatal intensive care unit at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines to keep tiny newborns warm. She also led quilting workshops for her 4-H club and local Girl Scout troops to have an even bigger impact on the hospital's need for quilts.
